QuipJot is operated by Hangzhou Luchenyuan Technology Co., Ltd. This policy explains what information the QuipJot macOS app, the QuipJot iOS app, and the website process, why it is needed, and the choices available to you.
Information we process
- Account information. Your email address, user ID, authentication state, and language preferences when you create or use an account. The iOS app also offers Sign in with Apple; if you choose Hide My Email, we only ever receive Apple’s relay address, never your real one.
- Translation input. Text you select or enter, text recognized from a screen capture, the requested language, and the translation returned to you.
- Saved learning content. Source text, translations, language labels, notes, and timestamps are stored when you choose to save an item.
- Study progress. The iOS app stores the wordbooks you choose to study, your review schedule and results, your chosen memory algorithm, and review timestamps, so progress follows your account across devices.
- Technical information. Our infrastructure may generate IP address, request, security, and error records needed to deliver and protect the service. QuipJot does not currently include a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
Screen capture and macOS permissions
QuipJot requests Accessibility access so it can detect selected text, and Screen Recording access when you use area capture. Captured images are processed locally by macOS Vision OCR and are not uploaded by the current desktop app. The recognized text is then sent for translation. A local diagnostic copy may remain in the macOS temporary directory until it is replaced or the system clears temporary files.
How we use information
- Authenticate your account and keep your session active.
- Translate text and generate optional vocabulary details.
- Sync content you deliberately save across your devices.
- Maintain security, prevent abuse, and diagnose failures.
QuipJot does not sell your personal information or use your translation text for advertising.
Service providers
QuipJot uses Supabase for authentication and saved data, Render for the translation API, DeepSeek to generate translations and vocabulary details, and Vercel for website and download hosting. Information sent to these providers is subject to their security, processing, and retention practices.
Translation text may therefore be processed outside your country or region. Avoid submitting confidential or highly sensitive text that you do not want an AI provider to process.
Storage and retention
Account details, profile settings, and saved learning content are retained while your account is active or until you delete the relevant saved item. QuipJot’s translation proxy does not intentionally write translation content to its own database. Infrastructure logs and AI-provider records may be retained under each provider’s policies.
Authentication credentials stored by the desktop app are protected with the operating system’s secure storage when available. Network traffic uses encrypted HTTPS connections. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices
You can delete individual saved items and sign out from either app. In the iOS app, Profile → Account → Delete account permanently deletes your account together with your saved items, study plans, and review history. The deletion is immediate and cannot be undone.
The macOS app does not yet include a deletion control. To request access, correction, export, or permanent deletion of your account and associated saved data from the desktop app, contact us using the address below.
